Class Overview:
The two most important things we can teach puppies is bite inhibition and how to get along with other dogs and humans. We often lump all puppy training into the category of socialization, but nobody ever tells owners exactly what that means. In this puppy class for puppies ages 12 weeks to 6 months, you will learn how to introduce your puppy to new people, places, things, other animals, and children. The classes are fun for owners and the puppies. We teach the class off-leash so the puppies can play and teach each other bite inhibition.
Payment:
Preregistration with payment is required. Registration fee is non-refundable. Please inform instructor if you know in advance that you will miss a particular class. You are encouraged to arrange with your instructor to get the homework for that class. We want you and your dog to be a successful team!
To Register:
Please click to download our Puppy Class Registration form.
Simply fill it out as completely as possible, attach your vaccination records* and payment, and mail back to us at the address listed above. If you have any questions, please email us.
*Rabies vaccinations are required by law, but your puppy may be too young to receive this vaccination. Please attach a certificate from your vet showing the dates of the vaccinations your puppy has had to your registration application.
**Please discuss with your vet what other vaccinations your puppy or dog should have and how often they should be 'boosted'. Vaccination protocols have changed recently, and your vet is who you should discuss this with.*

CLASS OVERVIEW:
Equivalent to an intermediate obedience class, this program is a non-competitive program open to all dogs, purebred and mixed breeds alike. It tests your dog on the ten essential skills every well-mannered dog should know. To prepare for taking the AKC Canine Good Citizen test, we offer a specialty class. Dogs and their owners will be introduced to and will train for the ten essential skills on the CGC test.
Therapy dogs locally must have passed the Canine Good Citizen test to start visiting nursing homes and hospitals.

This is Paco in Concert with his owners, Kim Angelis, and Josef. Kim Angelis is a virtuoso violinist and composer, and she and Josef have always had their Collies come out for encores. Paco has taken to the training like a champ. Here is what Kim had to say: "Praise reports and breakthroughs: we took Paco to the Astoria Sunday Market last weekend, and his behavior was great! We were so thrilled, and he loved it! We'll take him again tomorrow. And... (drum roll) Thursday a week ago, for the first time ever, Paco held his down-stay when someone came to the door!!! He has consistently held his "stay" ever since! Before you showed me how to train him, I wouldn't have thought these things were possible.
With appreciation,
Kim
PS: We took Paco to the Sunday Market again; as before, his behavior was fantastic! He loves the Market because he gets admired every ten paces, and we all know how much Paco likes to be the center of attention! :-)
